Adieu, Fabian
No more Vuitton. No more Bordeaux. Voila, no more Fabian!
I give two kisses on the cheeks to the soon-to-be-former California Speaker of the Assembly, button him up, pat him on the derriere, and pack him off into the long, dark night of political obscurity. Read all about it here.

I think you’re being harsh Marc. I enjoyed Fabian’s songs when I was 13. Course I preffered Tommy and Dion but . . .
Oh Never mind!

LV has at least 5 outlets in Paris. He could slip off to France before the news breaks that his status dropped, comb through each location with a credit card, mark up the booty 20% in Tokyo. But he’s gotta act fast before they realize he’s a pelagato and suddenly become “out of stock”.
That’s #2 on the Top 10 Next Careers Moves for Fabian Núñez.

Why are so many journalists mum about Antonio Villaraigosa? He clearly is a shit bag like the rest of them.
February 13th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
Josh,
He inspired at least one journalsit to open her mouth.
February 13th, 2008 at 1:57 pm
Not to mention new yorker’s profile.
February 13th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
I’ve got to agree with Josh and Randy. The two most important events in recent LA history were the successful fight to keep the city in one piece and fight back sucession talk and the appointment of Bill Bratton as Police Chief. Both occured on the watch of former mayor Jimmy Hahn and it can be argued that his dumping of the former chief alienated his largest fan club in the black community while his opposition to valley succession did him in with his other constituency. And he was never a colorful type but a low-key mayor. But a profile in courage.
Villaragosa is just a profile.

Fabian Nunez, immigration rally, 1995:
“…and those rednecks that are out there making decisions for the betterment of their communities will think twice before they push forward anti-immigrant legislation against our community… so you can be as revolutionary as you want, you can be Chicano nationalist, you can believe in the concept of Aztlán, you can believe in the concept of multi-culturalism, we don’t have to give our lives, we’re not at that point”.
Yikes.

Had a hunch you were going to enjoy writing that column about Fabian.
Don’t blame ya one bit.

I have the sad duty of reporting to everyone that Marc Cooper forgot his password.
February 18th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
I emailed Marc. He is OK, just very busy. either that or he forgot his password.
Seriously, I was worried, but he is OK.
February 19th, 2008 at 1:59 pm
off topic
Fidel resigns and Marc has nothing to say about it? This can’t be. Viva la revolucion! Viva Raul!
February 19th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
ABR
Anyone but Raul, an admirer of the “Chinese Road.”
February 19th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Jeez, take all the fun out of it why doncha. I already know what Marc will say to this, but it’s a towering achievement for Fidel to have lived to old age and retired peacefully, and to face the impending end from natural causes. Someone commented on the HP that the final score stands as follows:
Fidel: 1
Ten US Presidents: 0
Let’s just take a minute to grin about this, JC.
February 19th, 2008 at 5:24 pm
Indeed, we can thank Castro’s longevity for he fact that we don’t have to look at jillions of t-shirts, buttons and posters with a half-tone of his young bearded mug on them…
February 19th, 2008 at 5:26 pm
>>>lived to old age and retired peacefully…
Yeah if you consider an exploding colon “peaceful”.
February 19th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
Better an exploding colon than an exploding cigar.
February 19th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
Viva Alarcon or Lage.
February 19th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
Fidel resigns. Hillary’s campaign goes into “disarray” mode. Obama wins 9-10 in a row.
Silence.
Marc – turn on your TV.

“Fidel: 1
Ten US Presidents: 0
Let’s just take a minute to grin about this, JC.”
You forgot X, as communist and many leftists are wont to do,
“10 Thousand Cuban Citizens: -5″
Five decades of loss of freedom and pursuit of happiness under a dictator…..and still counting.
My guess is the Cuban people would like to slap the f**king grin off a naive free face that hasn’t a clue what living without it means. And any one of them switch places with you in a minute. I think it would be and excellent move for America both ways.
February 20th, 2008 at 12:15 am
Oh, and of course you forgot to count the Ten Million Citizens those Ten American Presidents fought 6 decades to win them their freedom.
But what-the-hell. If it’s freedom or capitalism, your naive ass would have to think twice about that, eh.
February 20th, 2008 at 12:39 am
That would be “If it’s freedom or freedom from capitalism, …”
February 20th, 2008 at 8:46 am
>Five decades of loss of freedom and
>pursuit of happiness under a dictator
Jim, you were under the impression that Cuba was a democracy before Castro? Or are you saying that Jorge Mas would have set one up right after he finished killing everyone who would have voted against him?
February 20th, 2008 at 10:43 am
10,000?
jim r should cite a reputable sourcce on that figure.
February 20th, 2008 at 12:29 pm
>10,000?
>jim r should cite a reputable source
Are there really that many in Gitmo?
