GOP Debate: Battle of the Hawks

Who’s the bigger hawk? Who’s toughest on the illegals? Who is most true to the remains of Ronnie Reagan resting just outside the window I’m staring at. My report from the Simi Valley debate.

Damn, Marc. you are fast. the debate’s been over about 15 seconds.

  2. bob williams Says:

This isn’t one of those Lewis Lapham deals, is it?

  3. GM Roper Says:

Well, McCain most certainly is not a conservative, nor do I think Romney is. In fact, none of the four dem and rep front runners are all that great. Hillary is a crook and a liar, Obama is a neophyte with no idea of what he is getting into and a motto of “I stand for Change, Change, Change I tell you.” doesn’t really cut it in the international scene.

Hmmm, maybe I’ll write in reg afterall. He is dumb when it comes to politics, but at least I think he is honest in his core beliefs, dumb as they are.

  4. Kevin Says:

It worked for Ronald Reagan, GM…

  5. reg Says:

    I’m feeling the Regimentum…

  6. Jim R Says:

The Republican Candidates deserve credit for agreeing to debates and personal appearances hosted by liberal media. Democratic Candidates on the otherhand prefer comfort zones.

Can’t wait for the general debates. You can hide now, but eventual ……………..you’ll have to run.

  7. David Says:

“The Republican Candidates deserve credit for agreeing to debates and personal appearances hosted by liberal media.”

Unless you are referring to CNN (where about the only politically-oriented show host is the right wing Lou Dobbs), I don’t know what you mean by that….but then again, I have noticed that Larry King and Anderson Cooper do frequently engage their celebrity guests all the time with political issues. I loved listening to King discuss the capital gains tax with Britney Spears last year.

The only people that I would give credit to in the GOP is the New Hampshire State Republican Party Chairman, for calling FOX News the crap organization it is when it wanted to muzzle Ron Paul (the only person running who even casually represents conservatism).

  8. bob williams Says:

I came to join the chorus singing Amen to McCain’s assertion that people who serve in government are “patriots,” while those in the private sector are greedheads.

Can I get an Amen, Brothers?

  9. bob williams Says:

(Who woulda thought McCain would make the strongest play for the Edwards vote? )

  10. Randy Paul Says:

Obama is a neophyte with no idea of what he is getting into

WTF was Dubya? Six years as governor of a state where the governor’s role iis one of the wealkest in the country? A failed businessman in the oil business. Crony capitalist owner of a baseball team who became rich because of a publicly finance stadium?

  11. Woody Says:

It’s going to be Rodham-Clinton vs. McCain. It’s over but no one will admit it.

  12. richard locicero Says:

    Channeling Karnak again, Woodster?

  13. jim hitchcock Says:

I’m voting for Joe Walsh. Of course, he hasn’t actually campaigned since 1979 (during his concerts), but I figure with enough of a groundswell
    of support…

  14. BushYouth Says:

I’d like to see the details on how Romney is going to humanely deport 12 million people. I really would.

  15. Rob Grocholski Says:

    amen, b williams

  16. bunkerbuster Says:

“Who woulda thought McCain would make the strongest play for the Edwards vote?”

He isn’t. That would be Mike Huckabee.

Remember his line about Romney? Something like:

“People want to vote for someone who’s like the guy they worked next to, not the guy who layed them off.”

You’ve gotta love that, if only because it gives every Rove Republican an aneurysm.

If and when the Democratic nominee finds himself needing new angles to lure swingy voters, he could do worse that looking to the Huckster from some trignometric identities.

  17. bunkerbuster Says:

    And..
I wonder if reg and the howling pack of anti-Clinton hysteria hyenas in the press really failed to notice that Ted Kennedy’s imprimatur might be something less than subprime in a general election.

When it comes to inspiring visceral disgust, not to mention direct mail fund-raising campaigns, among right-leaning voters, Teddy makes Bill look like a failed beginner.

The theme of the week had been that Bill’s blow job(s?) would be this huge liability in the fall for the Democrats. But where were these proto-Victorian worry warts when Ted the mistress murderer took a night off drinking and whoring, presumably, to put his blotchy-faced heft behind Obama?

I don’t buy for a second that Ted’s endorsement isn’t a plus for Obama. Of course it is, especially in winning the nomination, if less so in the general election.

But I wonder why the people who were so worried about Clinton’s negatives didn’t utter a peep about Kennedy’s.

  18. Rob Grocholski Says:

“But I wonder why the people who were so worried about Clinton’s negatives didn’t utter a peep about Kennedy’s.”

BB — It’s the rock dissing the stone. Why would the so-called ‘Lion of the Senate’ and supposedly of the other ‘dynastic’ political family give a crowning endorsement to Clinton?

  19. Listener Says:

The Kennedy’s and the candidates. They’re not all for Obama.

  20. Rob Grocholski Says:

I knew someone was going to throw up that LA Times piece. Thanks Listener.

I’m just glad we’re done now with all of that Kennedy stuff.

    Who’s Biafra endorsing?

  21. GM Roper Says:

    “I’m feeling the Regimentum…”

Can I be your Vice President? Wouldn’t that be a gas!!!

  22. David Says:

God….Robert Kennedy Jr. is supporting Hillary Clinton? I thought that the guy had at least some balls…

  23. David Says:

    …but I guess not.

  24. David Says:

    “Who’s Biafra endorsing?”

Well, when a country (in which 70% of its citizens support complete withdrawal from Iraq) have pro-war candidates as front runners of BOTH major parties; I have a feeling that to ol’ Jello, even Jerry Brown doesn’t sound half bad right now.

Thanks to Robert Kennedy’s children for the yuks they provided in their endorsement of Hillary Clinton, praising her for “giving voice to the alienated and disenfranchised and working to alleviate poverty and injustice, while urging that we cannot advance ourselves as a nation by leaving our poorer brothers and sisters behind.”

Words so silly to demerit comment. Ralph Nader, please run.

  25. Rob Grocholski Says:

Yeah the stuff the Kennedy Kids wrote up as their endorsement about Clinton was complete bulls%$t.

  26. reg Says:

    “Wouldn’t that be a gas!!!”

I’m sure we could manage to give it to quite a few people…certainly the weirdest ticket since Lenora Fulani endorsed Pat Buchanan. In the immortal words of VP candidate James Stockdale, “I’m trying to figure out why I’m here…”
