ICU - You See Mee
My recent intensive reporting into America's health care system landed me in a 3 day stay in my own local Intensive Care Unit.
Some scary moments but all is very well. Back in the fray this week. Thanks to all who have sent regards.

You need to convalesce.

You can tear up your hospital bill and the state will write off your care so long as you don’t try to unionize any more nurses. Enough is enough.

Thanks for the word – folks were getting worried and obviously with reason. Take care.
Also, it’s obvious you’ve created a monster. The comments kept rolling in for 5 days on the last post, even though you’d just hit the “pause” button.

Sorry for your illness, Marc. I didn’t realize how serious it was. I was just kidding about getting your GTO, but keep me in mind for that in the future.
Just think, if we had government health care, you would have had to wait another week or two to get admitted.

Marc, I’m on my way to Vegas (seriously) Monday and happy to try to win back your medical expenses. Can you still put nickels in the slot machines? From reading your articles I know I could never handle the poker tables.

I realize that Woody is just being snarky with the remark about how you would have had to wait for ER care had you been in a government-run healthcare system, but why not investigate that charge? I wonder how long the wait is for a true emergency in France or Germany or even England. My guess is that with better organization, all of these countries are able to see emergency patients faster than the multi-hour waits in our big-city emergency rooms. Just wondering — what do the data show? I would guess that each of those country’s governments keeps statistics on waiting time, severity of condition, and outcome.

Even though I’ve been stalking your situation through other means too, it’s remarkably relieving to see you posting again.
