Momma J and the Son of Poppy Bush

I went to last sleep chuckling over CNN's post-Bush pundit show. Those invited to react? Andrew Sullivan. Joe Klein. and David Gergen. Not only do the first two look alike, but all three have nearly identical politics. In the interests of slightly broadening the debate over the war, I offer the testimony of one "Momma J." She's featured in my latest column for L.A. Weekly.

Gee CNN was that broad in its spectrum of informed opinion?

There are too many excellent places to go today to get a slightly more varied menu but I thought that Juan Cole was a must and Sidney Blumenthal’s piece in SALON on Chaney and the Neocon’s routing of the ISG is also good background.

I suppose fairness compels me to mention the latest wankery of Jonah Goldberg in the LAT. Mom must be so proud!

I love how the court of King Bush just discovered (discovered!) that Iraq was barely a country that had been artificially sown together by the British and kept from breaking apart by decades of brutal rule (during which time sectarian tensions were cynically and relentlessly stoked).

This court needs more fools, and fewer clowns.

Very moving column, Marc. Wouldn’t it be grand to see someone like her on the tube after Bush’s public jack-off session? instead of the three stooges.

I glanced at TOM TOMORROW and there was a anecdote about George McGovern. He told someone there that he had been trying to get on the air to discuss Iraq but was told by a (unnamed) show’s producer, “Oh, we already have enough anti-war voices on.”

Andrew Sullivan and Joe Klein look alike? Has Klein hit the gym? How much can Kleiny bench?

There is an interesting piece in RAW STORY about the perils of being a “Prmature Anti-Iraq War” columist and pundit. Looks at Robert Scheer, Jonathan Schell, Scott Ritter and their subsequent careers.

(i.e. Scheer replaced by Jonah Goldberg)

THey coulda invited Chris Hitchens on the air to make a shrill attack on the left for undermining the surge.
