Polling Joe Six Pack
There are currently layers upon layers of fog out there in the mediasphere as to what so called Middle Americans may or may not be thinking. Personally, I can't think of anything more insulting to believe that average people are going to be charmed by such a sub-par element as Sarah Palin.
My good friend Tim went out knocking on the doors of some those supposed average Joes and has quite an intriguing report. Read it here.

What do Hondurans or El Salvadorans matter in this election? Oh wait, that’s Central Americans.
October 5th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
Palin doesn’t have to charm. She just has to inform–something that strikes fear into Democrats.
There’s a lot about Obama that Americans need to learn. Do Americans really understand that Obama is a friend of terrorists?
The Night Barack Hussein Obama’s Friend William Ayers Tried To Murder Me
If I’m charmed, it’s because it’s refreshing to see someone willing to stand up and tell the truth about Obama.

I did not read your link to “Tim” for no reason except I am in a rush today. We have total and complete troops on the ground today in Norther Nevada dong it all for Barack and I am in the middle of it and happy to do so…
Not sure what you are saying either Marc - except of course Palin is a complete idiot.
So because of that I will totally broad brush the past 38 hours or so and say this from my POV.
Palins attack trying to link Barack to terroists, et al yesterday, and more to come is, to me at the least, the comedy of the absurd.
We have now been through 19 months of this ongoing campain, well before McCain was nominated, let alone current nonsense of VP Palin who was selected 4 or 5 weeks ago — there is NO new news about Barack.
Overall meaning, the current attacks on Barack are old/moldy and are still born today.
We the people — need — serious conversation and serious solutions. Except for the abstract and mindless — McCain has not a chance in hell of winning. Everyone is too broke and scared and not in the mood for his campaign uglies and absurdities.
Then too as I might have mentioned here in the past month, I am only at ground level in Obamas Campaign in N. Nevada, but I believe at the best point to tell my real belief, that there “is” an underground swell for Barack that I believe will surprise most on 11/4.
As a real emotional thought as I end this post, we are all extremely tired and brain dead from this 19month campaign. No matter the outcome, to have had a Black candidate who fought everyone this past year or so, not to mention at the top of the list, both Clintons and all else, is quite amazing by any standard, for Barack to be at this point in time ahead and winning.
While I am writing this Springsteen is yet again on the trail and CNN is playing his music, so gotta go…
For the nay sayers— get used to this sentence.
Hello President Barack Obama!

To Woody –
Shame on you for your quite ridiculous post. Just how dumb do you believe most folks are? - or perhaps you just enjoy being the complete horses ass, and laugh like hell while you are posting the most atroucious shit anyone can read?
Those were rhetorical questions Woody.
For a person who pretends to be at the least somewhat literate - you shame yourself with your outlandish posts - almost like a Rep Lobbyist who is being paid to tread and post the assinine.
And trust me you are assinine. You have not one measure of any - here or there - just such foolish incredibilty - beyond stupid and mind boggling!
Good grief - how do folks like you sleep at night or ever? Answer - you do because you love idiocy and the posts of your own anger and apparently ineffectual real lives…
Bah Humbug, you are a continous wasted read.
October 5th, 2008 at 2:35 pm
Woody - btw…why not just come out of the closet and say what you are — a pure racist, instead of using code.
Over and out - your call for the rest of today, leaving now to help my local district again for Barack.
Will check back tomorrow.
October 5th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
Wow, Woody. I used to believe Obama was a good, decent person, but you have shown me the light. Man, to think I almost voted that terrorist into office! Who knows what he might have done! He probably would have given billions in taxpayer dollars to terrorists and then suspended the military and invited terrorists to make thousands attacks in the U.S. He would have put all white people into concentration camps and put blacks and arabs into office while letting any imigrant from Mexico in to take the jobs we left behind when we were shipped to our camps. That’s not even to mention Obama’s likely act of making Islam the national religion. Sheesh, man. Is this what you’ve been trying to tell us idiot libs this whole time? We should never have called you names like “racist fucking idiot.”
McCain/Palin ‘08! Palin/Giuliani ‘12 & ‘16!!
October 5th, 2008 at 5:06 pm
It’s confirmation of the insanity of Obamabots that I already knew existed, when their best defense is to call the other side idiots and racists.
Now, if you want to know who is really stupid, it’s those voters that Susan W. and other Obamabot are out to register and drive to polls at the last minute.
It’s people who are too lazy or indifferent to fulfill their civic duties on their own by registering early and learning about issues. It’s the homeless, the delusional, the senile, the felons, the welfare queens, the reverse racists, the hate-America crowd, the communists, the MTV kids….
It’s people who are used by Democrats without their knowing that they are being used.
I’m smart enough not to be used. Susan W. is smart enough to use those who aren’t.
October 5th, 2008 at 5:23 pm
Susan W,
Don’t pay any attention to it. It’s the smell of wingnut flop sweat.
October 5th, 2008 at 5:56 pm
Woody - you lost any benefit of the doubt when you posted the “shoeshine boy” picture.
You’re a scumbag and your desperation over the collapse of the GOP is transparent.
October 5th, 2008 at 6:15 pm
Woody’s “retirement” is reminiscent of John McCain “suspending his campaign.” What’s up with these fools ?
October 5th, 2008 at 6:39 pm
Well, if one’s behavior were inconsistent with that of an idiot, or a racist, then I could see the characterization of that individual as such, as dumb. However, when said behavior is highly consistent with that demonstrated by someone who is both idiotic and racist, then, as they say, if the shoe fits…the racist idiot will stuff it in, er, whatever orifice is available; most, typically, their mouths although other alternatives remain available.
Susan, former commenter GM Roper said it, and it would be wise to heed it; Woody doesn’t believe half of what he writes. I’ve known that for a very long time. Empirically, his raison d’être here, his sole raison d’être, is to get a rise out of you (or, others like you) - no matter what he says.
So any day you respond, is a good day for Woody. Any day you ignore him is a disappointment. The disappointment is directly proportional to the number of times in a given day he is unsuccessful in prompting a response - any response at all. Since every single person reading, or commenting here knows this to be true, one is left with the supposition that Woody is marccooper.com’s token troll. Consider it a strange form of affirmative action. The locals have decided to feed him so he’ll stick around for their pleasure.
The choice as to whether you wish to support this form of activity is, of course, up to you. Personally, I think Woody’s comments are the precise reason my mouse has a scroll wheel. And, my scroll wheel is exquisitely efficient.
October 5th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
Every cloud has a silver lining (or perhaps in this case just an absurd irony) - in the course of making a ridiculous “guilt-by-association” smear against Obama, Sarah Palin announced to her audience that The New York Times is “hardly ever wrong.”
October 5th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
Listener-
Well said. No more treats.
October 5th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
As a born-again conservative, I incline to agree with Woody on this one. People like Susan are just using young people, homeless people, all black people (which he got with “felons” and “welfare queens”), etc. for their own political gain. That is just a disgrace. Everyone knows (well, at least now, I do) that any educated person is going to vote Republican because voting Democratic is the “hip” thing, so it must be lame. Plus, let’s face it, when it comes right down to facts and reality, Republicans bought it, packaged it, and ship it every day. The only way you can support a Democrat is by closing your eyes to all the greed and corruption. Thanks to Woody, I am now smart enough not to be used. Now, if anyone wants to help me bring about REAL change, I’ll be knocking door to door and telling middle class americans about how Obama is pro-abortion and pro-terrorist to get their vote for McCain.
October 5th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
You go Howie.
The Obama is “pro-terrorist” line should turn a lot of the “smarter” people such as yourself.
Be sure to repeat that line early and often!
In fact, you may consider getting it tattooed on your chest or forehead…

For the truth about the BHO/Ayers connection, see my name’s link. Back in the day, lefties used to be aghast at media bias and would be outraged about media cover-ups. Nowadays, of course, most of them are eager to help those cover-ups; not a single leftie that I’ve seen has even considered the fact that the NYT was trying to whitewash the BHO/Ayers connection.
Along those lines, I discuss Cooper’s latest desperate attempt to help the BHO campaign here. Those who’ve been here for a while might remember me as the commenter who completely discredited Cooper on immigration, forcing him to have a mini-meltdown completely devoid of any logic. Now I’m back for more.

Oh yes, whoever the heck you are. Im simply melting down under the pressure you exert. Anyone who calls CNN Izvestia is likely to have to shave the backs of his hands to appear in public. Need a blade?

Here’s a new toy for you, reg.

Yesterday. my wife and I were canvassing for Obama near Allentown PA., not too far from Tim’s territory. I guess it would be called an exurb, something between a small town and suburb, surrounded by farm country. A little more ethnic diversity than I would have expected, overlaying basic Pennsylvania German stock. Our neighborhood was kind of toney, a bit more Repub than Dem.
Even so, we found more than a handful of Republicans leaning towards Obama and only one Dem supporting McCain. That Dem was living in a small cul-de-sac surrounded by nice houses with fiercely manicured lawns, imposing lawn/porch ornamentation (often with religio-patriotic themes) and many McCain/Palin signs. So maybe she was intimidated.
More than half the men in the neighborhood were doing some form of strenuous lawn maintenance. I soon realized that you could predict candidate support solely by the commitment to lawn upkeep and porch decoration. As soon as I saw any laxity in either area, I knew I was in an an Obama house. One or two unplucked weeds or even a few flakes of chipped paint on a metallic garden frog was all it took. What to do with this insight, I don’t know, but maybe we can gin up a Rovian-type demographic category on which to focus GOTV efforts, ‘Suburban lawn shirkers’ or ‘Porch decoration deabeats’.
Like Tim, we also ran into a husband who claimed he had no idea how his wife planned to vote. How can this be, I thought. How could they have never once talked about it? Of course, their lawn was perfect, not a blade out of place. The porch was laid out thoughtfully with samplers, wreaths and other seasonal chatchkes. With that kind of commitment, I didn’t have much doubt which way his wife would go.

Why is it that Democrats have never made conservatives’ associations with third world and middle eastern mass murderers (I certainly know McCain was a “pal” of Saddam Hussein back in the 80’s when he was our ally) a campaign issue? Maybe because so many Democrats have had their own hands in that holocaust cookie jar.

As it says at the other post I linked above, my comments can be found as “TLB” (and other names linking to lonewacko.com) on these threads among others:
marccooper.com/what-dream
marccooper.com/ice-cold
marccooper.com/immigration-good-bad-and-the-ugly
marccooper.com/gilded-gophers
As I pointed out in the comments at those links - and as you can see in his comment above - Cooper is simply unable to present anything approaching a logical argument.
The reason I left comments in the first place is because at the time Instapundit was using Cooper as his Pajamas Media-friendly go-to guy on immigration. I’d like to think that my comments are what caused Insty to switch to using Kaus instead, but I don’t have proof of that.

“I’d like to think that my comments are what caused Insty to switch to using Kaus instead, but I don’t have proof of that.”
The fact that you’re linking year old material from this site, which is supossed to prove that you demolished Marc, under a different handle, is frankly bizaare and if anything it demonstrates a large ego and a delusional personality. No one cares about your “greatest hits” a la Marc Cooper blog.

“Vote for John McCain because Bill Ayers stepped on an American flag!”
That’s the intellectual level that the Republican party has been reduced to.
