Here’s my piece in The Los Angeles Times endorsing, sorta, the re electom of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
Note I said Mayor. Not Governor.

I concur, keep affectionate Antonio local, not in Sacto.
As Antonio said to me (and my wife–oh oh) during the Pride parade in West Hollywood in June,
“I love you all !”

What is wrong with Marc? VillaBaboso’s only real accomplishment is being in front of more cameras than any mayor in the country.
I am voting for Zuma Dogg, who will at least spend time working for the residents of Los Angeles.
VillaBaboso only spent 11% of his time on city business. VillaBaboso should be demoted to dog catcher of East Los Angeles.
Does Marc remember VillaBaboso’s appointments to Gang Czar Jeff Carr, planning chief Gail Goldberg ??

I think you hit all right notes in the LAT column, Marc. Antonio ought to stay focused on our city. Maybe he’ll get his ‘mojo’ back and help stir LA to a comeback through this recession. We certainly need Antonio at his best. God knows now is not the time to mess around with any of the underwhelming alternatives on ballot.
On the other hand, though Brown and DiFi might be the real heavies, there is a part of me that would love to see the spectacle of a debate for the Democratic nomination featuring Antonio and Gavin Newsom. SF v LA.

Living in CD 14 as I do, I’ve seen this one before. After going to a meeting where AV personally promised he’d serve out his council term, I voted for him. Months later, he was running for mayor. It pretty much sucked. It’s too bad he’s the best we can come up with.

This city is in worse condition than when this man won office 4 years ago (way worse), and that includes his campaign to fill potholes and plant trees. IMO, he’s sold us out, and I hope he loses and we never have to hear from him again, local or state. I voted for change on the national level, and I want change on the local level just as much.

Are you really that naive?

Before you suggest someone is naive for backing AV (if even relucantly) you have the burden of explaining how one of the alternatives is better. The field is THAT shallow. Substaniate your argument.

Rob, be nice. Mayor Sam is a knee-jerk reactionary and not really capable of answering such complex questions. Funny thing, I sorta knew the real Mayor Sam…and this guy comes damn close.

Correction, Rob. Just looked at Sam’s blog which gives pretty much a Republican party line endorsement list (with some exceptions).
One of those exceptions is his pick for Mayor: knone other than the inane and jackass known as Zuma Dogg. And with no irony.
Do two jackasses make a herd?

Well, with something over 55% of the vote with 75% of the precincts in, running against a field of fringe types, Antonio is not wowing …
