Rudy: The New Pat
I was sitting next to Norman Mailer at the infamous 1992 Republican Convention when Pat Buchanan launched his notorious culture war speech. Mailer was wearing blue. Pat's brigades were in gray.
When the indoor fireworks went off upon Buchanan's conclusion, for a moment we weren't sure if these were pyrotechnics or rifle shots from the bleachers above us.
In the end, Buchanan's bombast helped sink the Republican ticket that year.
I agree with John Marshall that Mayor Rudy just did the same thing.

I can’t watch Rudy. I haven’t been able to for years. All I can think about with him is the day he spent in Haiti lunching with Baby Doc Duvalier when he (Giuliani) was number 3 in the Reagan DOJ and returned to tell Congress that there was no political repression in Haiti.
What a tool. I hope this casts him into the oblivion that he deserves.

Not very impressed. Canned to the max. And she told a couple of straight-out lies that could be embarrassing in opposition commercials. The crowd is tilted very much in the direction of stupid white people. Not even close to being America in 2008. Creepy and, increasingly, fringe. I was a bit worried contemplating the “poison pawn” scenario. But of course that’s a gambit from weakness and rarely works. I doubt this one will. It was also apparent that the press has had their fill of Steve Schmidt’s whiny ass baby crap. Brian Williams, of all people, read a remarkably no-bullshit pushback from Joe Klein right after Palin’s performance. I thought if a cheese whiz lightweight like Williams and a kiss-ass like Klein are this fed up with McCain’s petulant hypocrisy and Palin’s empty suit, how do they continue to orchestrate an alternate reality that has any credibility with swing voters.

Incidentally, after her phony attempt at a hatchet job tonight, the VPILF should never be referred to other than as “The Pork Queen of Wasilla.”

No executive experience
Obama seems to have left out this job from his resume ..
“Recently [1995] he [Obama] was appointed president of the board of the Annenberg Challenge Grant, which will distribute some $50 million in grants to public-school reform efforts.”
… this would be an excellent comeback for Obama to all those complaints that he never had executive experience or handled a payroll.

You are being facetious Neo.

marc — I’m curious with Mailer thought of Buchanan’s speech, and Buchanan. I know he was good friends with American Conservative co-founder Taki Theodoracoupolous for many years.
You can’t compare Buchanan with Giuliani. Guiliani is a bloodthirsty neocon. Buchanan is an antwar conservative.

Off topic: new emails from McCain campaign in the person of Palin claiming that the “Obama-Biden Democrats” have been lying and attacking her and her family. Both Obama and Biden have said a million times this week that families and kids are off limits. The crap comes from the media. Not only would they lie about the issues and the character of Obama, but now they’re using their own kids as leverage to raise money. All I can say is, karma is a bitch. Remember the last nine months? You know when Obama’s character and integrity were attacked viciously by the media, Clintons, and GOP? Suck it up. It’ll all be over in November, Ms. Palin. Then you can safely go back to Alaska, never to be heard of again.
